Biochar Engineering held a successful demo of our new beta unit at the US Biochar Initiative at Iowa State University on Sunday, June 27th. The unit ran perfectly for several hours, but at shutdown an apparently defective commercial coupling on the main shaft cracked. We were able to obtain a replacement from a local source, but the unit was still too hot to replace it under field conditions in time to run again on Monday afternoon. We ran the batch unit instead. The blower we had brought on that unit was old, and proved to be doa, but we were able to get a new one at a local Harbor Freight.
